I can’t Trust my own Family?

Back in 1995 my Father who has already passed away bought a car from my Aunt’s Boyfriend at that time(they are not together know but they did had a child that year). When my Father passed away in 02″ he left the car for me to use for college and etc. Me, being in need of money and dumb at the time, I decided to sell the car in 2005. I sold the car to my Aunt’s Husband. At $500. its a cheap car, but its a memory of my dad to me. He only paid me $150 in total, and that was back in summer of 05. Know that im requesting my car back after more than a year of me waiting on him to pay me, he says the only way for me to get the car back is if I pay him what He paid me. Wat can I do, to get my dads car back that I know want to fix and build up again?

Pay him back $100 or negotiate.

you have three choices, pay him try to negotiate a price or go to court..not rocket science dude!
if you consider court try to have someone to back up that you agreed of $500 selling price…Lets
From where i am sitting $150 is a cheap lesson for you, if someone can’t come up with 500 bucks to pay you at time of sale chances are good you will never see it.

Family will jack you every time… the same holds true for the old adage politics and religion make strange bedfellows, holds the same weight…pay him and be done with him(wash your hands of him)…chalk it up to experiences learned and move on!

The money or take it to small claims court and get the family hope that helps.
The car back sense he gave you and get the money or take it off its your choice by the way your aunts ex isnt part of the family hope that helps.

Give him the 150.00 back and be done with it, and move on. Technically, even if you took the car without giving him back the 150…there isn’t any difference than repoing it. Its would be like me paying 10,000 on my Tahoe and them coming to get it. I don’t get a refund, and really he shouldn’t either.
But unless you want to make things particularly sticky…just give him back the 150…..smile, and go home. Gotta think about it too, when you give him the car, did you give him the title too? Because if he’s got the title, there is little you can do to prove that he didn’t pay you.
